Resist – Things Artist Do Whilst Learning To Teach | Freelands Foundation
The Challenge Of Artist Teachers
‘Resist – Things Artists Do Whilst Learning to Teach’ is the culmination of a collaboration between artist-teachers from the Art & Design PGCE course at the Institute of Education, University College London, and the Freelands Foundation.
Artist teachers in Greater London were invited to reflect on their position in schools, investigate their new context, and make an artwork in response.
An Assertive Education Project
The outputs of the ‘Resist’ project include an exhibition, publication, and documentary. “To be an art teacher is a political thing, it always will be, until society or the education system at large recognises the value of arts more widely,” is the powerful quote that kicks off the film.
