Edinburgh Fringe Festival Trailer | Edinburgh Festival Fringe
Capturing the spirit of the Edinburgh Fringe.
Fringe for freedom
We shot this trailer for the 2019 Festival during the Edinburgh Fringe 2018. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society gave us free creative rein for the project and our filmmaking crew developed the idea of capturing the perspective of a person attending the Fringe for the first time.
The video is also set to a poem that was written as a celebration of the festival and that, we believe, embodies what this unique event is all about.
Begins and ends with Edinburgh
The trailer stars a local actor, wearing a body brace with a camera attached on it, to capture footage from an experimental reverse point-of-view, in which we are always looking at the actor’s face. It was shot by a two-man crew from Chocolate Films’ Glasgow office, who had a great time filming around the city during the festival, especially as the body brace attracted attention and encouraged strangers to join in.
This was our first commission from the Edinburgh Fringe and we have since made more films together, including one on its outreach programme.
