Driving Awareness – International Women’s Day | Scania
Chocolate Films were commissioned to make a short film to highlight the contributions of women to various areas of their business.
Scania’s Vision
Scania wanted to celebrate the women in their organisation for International Women’s Day 2023 and worked with Chocolate Films to create a corporate film that would celebrate and inspire the women of Scania.
We decided the film should span across Scania’s operations all over the UK, and at all levels of their company.
There was a tight deadline for this project, and two shoots had to be organised in Scotland and England, with the dramatic, high-key style agreed upon beforehand.
The mechanics of pre-production
The concept was to focus on the hopes and dreams of different Scania females at different stages of their lives.
The decision was made to feature women who work at Scania, but move to more of a dramatic, voiceover-led approach. This would mean shooting cinematic shots using a gimbal and recording voiceover from the contributors separately. B-roll would also be captured of them at work.
From our previous work with Scania, we knew the look and feel they prefer for video content, as well as their brand guidelines, and were prepared to shoot with both web delivery and social formats in mind.
Shooting Scania
Shooting was scheduled over 2 days in Scotland and England – the organisational and ecological benefit of having two teams of dedicated filmmakers based at either end of the country becomes clear in situations like this.
Our contributors were fantastic, rising to the challenge of their voiceover and shooting sessions, and giving us some great material to work with.
We were able to capture Erin, a lorry mechanic at work, which was fascinating, and we were even able to learn something about lorry engines. Both shoots went well, with the two teams coordinating to unify the look and feel of the film between the five contributors and two locations.
Post-production was straightforward as the film was scripted carefully, and social media-friendly formatted versions were also provided to Scania.
Scania and corporate films
We have years of experience producing corporate films, and we take pride in our holistic, imaginative approach to production on these projects.
We have previously produced a number of films for Scania, including a series of their long-form web series Scania Family.
We established a format with series 1 of Scania Family that Scania took forward to many other areas of the UK- Scania Family is now in its 4th series.
